3. DISASTER RISK REDUCTIONS– EHA continued its commitment toward the DRR actions subscribing to the current Sendai Declarations toward 'The substantial reduction of disaster risk and losses in lives, livelihoods and health and in the economic, physical, social, cultural and environmental assets of persons, businesses, communities and countries.

  1. As an institution it further adopts all the 4 Priorities for Action such as- Understanding disaster risk; strengthening disaster risk governance to manage disaster risk; Investing in disaster risk reduction for resilience; and Enhancing disaster preparedness for effective response, and to Build Back Better in recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction.

  2. EHA renewed its commitments to revisit its action toward DRR with the vision: Disaster Resilient EHA with full resolution, commitment, participation and support from the organization as a policy. EHA is currently undertaking HRVC mapping exercises prioritizing in the high risk regions such as Northeast, North and Eastern region. The commitment is to achieve the initial level of disaster preparedness in all its Units this financial year.

  3. As a continuous effort to achieve its vision 'toward building safer communities…' EHA continue to seek and explore partnership to develop disaster risk reduction programs across India and the South Asian countries utilizing its experiences and expertise especially in the rarely visited areas of healthcare DRR across India.

  4. EHA will continue to explore partnership with similar minded organizations to achieve all the 4 Priorities for Action with special focus on healthcare and educational institutions in India and South Asia region.

Currently EHA is engaged in Nepal post earthquake DRR and Manipur DRR programs.

  1. Networking is an important and essential part of DRR programs. EHA has been enlarging its Disaster Response Network since 2006. Currently, EHA has its DR Network with as many as 500 organizations initially enlisted from Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Sikkim, and Uttarakhand etc.

  2. Initiative for building up Regional Alliance with organizations with similar vision. EHA is currently exploring to expand its network beyond India with the objective to reach out neighboring countries in South Asia. The objective is to build up a solid cooperation and coordination mechanism for effective disaster response in these countries. Initial work has been done between Nepal and India. EHA is looking for guidance from a larger alliance to assist is linking up with original partners to bring in to the common platform to start up with the initial dialogue between the countries.
